About the Maker

Built from Passion and Craftsmanship

My name is Jacob Ferch, and I’m the maker behind Ferch Fine Woodworks based in Appleton, Wisconsin.

I first discovered woodworking in 2016 while building projects in my parents’ garage. What started as a simple hobby quickly grew into a passion as I saw how a rough piece of lumber could be transformed into something functional, beautiful, and built to last.

That interest led me to attend technical college for woodworking, where I developed a strong foundation in craftsmanship, joinery, and woodworking techniques. Today I continue to build in my workshop, creating pieces designed to be simple, durable, and timeless.

Thoughtful Design and Engineering

Alongside woodworking, I am currently studying Mechanical Engineering. This background gives me a unique perspective when designing my work. I approach each project with both creativity and precision, ensuring that every piece is well-built, durable, and designed to last for years.

I specialize in handcrafted wooden pieces including keepsake boxes, custom drawer boxes, and functional wooden storage. Every product is made with attention to detail and a focus on quality materials.

Outside the Workshop

When I’m not in the shop, I enjoy spending time outdoors. Living in Wisconsin, I love hiking and exploring nature, often accompanied by my dog Casper. These moments outside help inspire new ideas and keep me grounded in the creative process.

Building Something Long Term

My goal is to grow Ferch Fine Woodworks into a full-time craft business built on quality and trust. Each piece I make is carefully crafted, and every order supports my journey toward building a business around the work I truly enjoy.

Quick notes

Working with a custom furniture maker is a collaborative adventure. To ensure the best possible experience for your home, I’ve put together a few guidelines that help our process run smoothly and ensure the longevity of your heirloom piece.

  • Lead times are strictly respected to ensure finish curation
  • Wood is a living material; anticipate subtle seasonal movement
  • Avoid direct UV exposure to maintain wood clarity and color
